A Night of Heritage

Our Inaugural Festival

On 11 December 2022, the Omdurman Cultural Center came alive with the rhythms of Sudan. In collaboration with Aslaf Band and supported by Norwegian People’s Aid, the Nogara Project hosted its first major cultural festival a vibrant celebration of identity, music, and community.

The Experience

The Sound Exhibition

An immersive journey through traditional rhythms and rare instruments.

Photo Gallery

Capturing the soul of Sudanese cultural life and heritage.

The Bazaar

A marketplace for local craftsmanship and traditional musical tools.

Cinema

A documentary screening highlighting the untold stories of our local music traditions.

The Stage

The night culminated in a powerful live concert celebrating the diversity of Sudanese sound.

We were honored to host a lineup of incredible artists:

Wd Abbo | Zulu | Abdeen Amma | Mahdia | Aslaf Band

Special Guest Appearance: We were also joined by the renowned Nancy Ajaj, whose participation added a truly special layer to our celebration of musical heritage.

Resilience Beyond Borders

Our vision was to make this festival an annual heartbeat for Omdurman. However, when the war broke out on 15 April 2023, our team and community were forced to leave the country.

The music, however, did not stop. While the conflict changed our location, it could not silence our purpose. Since 2023, the Nogara Project has continued to produce, document, and revive Sudanese heritage from afar. We carry the spirit of that first 2022 festival with us, proving that our culture is a home we carry wherever we go.
